Seraphim Launches New ETF to Target Pure-Play Space Investors
Investors are being offered a new way to bet on space via a fund that focuses exclusively on a sector thrust into the limelight by the IPO of Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
Seraphim Space, a London-based investment company, is launching an exchange-traded fund which claims to provide pure exposure to the “New Space” economy by tracking companies building infrastructure, technology and services while giving less weight to defense and aerospace names.
“The convergence of AI and SpaceTech, together with rising demand for connectivity, defense and sovereign capability, is creating one of the most compelling investment opportunities of the coming decade,” Seraphim CEO Mark Boggett said. “Until now, investors have had limited ways to access that opportunity through public markets.”
Space stocks soared earlier this year ahead of Musk’s record-breaking IPO, and as investors looked to gain exposure to defense-related technology, but gave up much of those gains as SpaceX plunged back below its listing price.
The new ETF tracks the Seraphim New Space Index, which has 23 constituents including the company’s Seraphim Space Investment Trust, as well as SpaceX, Rocket Lab Corp., Firefly Aerospace, HawkEye 360 Inc. and Planet Labs.
