Meta Upgraded at JPMorgan as Muse Highlights Better AI Position
Meta Platforms Inc. was upgraded to overweight at JPMorgan Chase & Co. on Thursday, the latest example of how sentiment toward the Facebook parent’s position with artificial intelligence has been improving.
The upgrade from neutral comes in the wake of Meta unveiling Muse, an AI agent product that is designed to carry out tasks on a user’s behalf.
“Meta’s Muse AI agent has strong early traction, reaching as high as #3 in the US app store on its second day and early usage running at 10x that of training cohorts,” analyst Doug Anmuth wrote.
He sees this as an example of how “Meta is well-positioned to deliver consumer-driven AI products to its base of ~4B users, and that scaled distribution is a significant competitive advantage.”
Shares of Meta rose 1.5% in premarket trading, building on Wednesday’s gain of 6.6% that came as Wall Street analysts praised Muse’s potential. While Meta is up 20% off an August low — in part because it settled in social-media trials last month — the stock has been an underperformer this year. Shares are basically flat for 2026 as of their last close, compared with a gain of more than 16% for the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 Index.
