Dividend Aristocrats
Dividend Aristocrats that look very attractively valued today. I often get asked if I could give a list of my best stocks to invest in. Unfortunately, that is a very loaded question simply because the best stocks (businesses) are not always the best investments. That pesky valuation often gets in the way. This is especially true in today’s very expensive stock market. The best stocks on the planet are not a secret, and as a result, investors tend to bid them up to unrealistic valuation levels. On the other hand, it is also possible that the cheapest stocks may not be the absolute best businesses, but because they are undervalued, they can be the best investments – at least over the near to intermediate term.
With this video I am going to cover the vaulted Standard & Poor’s Dividend Aristocrats list of companies. These are blue-chip dividend paying stocks that have increased their dividend for at least 25 consecutive years or longer. In short, they are among the crème de la crème of all dividend paying stocks based on the longevity of their dividend increase streaks. Unfortunately, in today’s overheated stock market, most of the Dividend Aristocrats are overvalued and therefore not necessarily attractive investments at least over the near to intermediate term.
Once again, this is especially true of the best of breed Dividend Aristocrats. In contrast, there are Dividend Aristocrats that look very attractively valued today. But unfortunately, they are not necessarily the best Dividend Aristocrats on the list. Nevertheless, by virtue of the fact that they are Dividend Aristocrats implies that they are quality companies. Therefore, I will attempt to convey the difference between the best versus the cheapest. I will leave it up to the individual to decide what is suitable for themselves.
